How can martial arts help my child?
Martial arts at KOMA helps children build confidence, focus, and self-discipline while improving their strength, coordination, and resilience. Unlike traditional sports, Taekwondo teaches goal-setting and perseverance through structured progression, helping kids develop a strong work ethic and a growth mindset. Our instructors create a supportive environment where children learn respect, responsibility, and leadership—skills that benefit them for life. Learn more here.

How long does it take to become a Black Belt at KOMA Taekwondo?
At KOMA Taekwondo the youngest you can become a Black Belt is 10 years old. Students who join at age 7 or older will start as white belts and it will take approximately 3 years (or 10 belts) to earn their first black belt.
Students 3-6 will first join our Super Tykes program, which will help them become comfortable with classes, and familiar with basic techniques. Do you take students with special needs?
Yes! People with special needs hold a special place in our hearts, especially for Master Ko, whose son is autistic. We take students with all types of special needs. We find that most of our students with special needs can participate in our group classes, but we also offer private lessons to those students who aren’t ready to be in a group class. If you have any concerns with a group setting, please let us know before the intro lesson and we can discuss options to create the best experience.
