What to Expect from Your First Class

Knowing what to expect from an experience is one way to set your child up for success when trying something new.

To make your first training session as simple and comfortable as possible, we have answered a few of your most frequently asked questions about your first lesson with us.

What do I need to do before class?

You will receive an email with a waiver you will need to complete and sign before participating in your first class. You can also expect a call from us to remind you to bring your waiver with you to class.

What does my child need to wear?

Please dress your child in something they feel comfortable in. When you arrive, we will provide you with a uniform and dressing room to change for your first class. We also recommend bringing a water bottle as this is an active and physically engaging class.

Where do I park?

We will have a parking spot reserved for you near the front. Look for your last name on our sign to find your designated parking spot.

Do I need to arrive early?

No, while it is not necessary, you are always welcome to arrive early. Please plan to arrive by your scheduled time. We have built ten minutes into our intro lessons to change into your uniform, meet your instructor and get comfortable before beginning class.

What can I expect when I walk in?

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our KOMA staff to welcome you and review your waiver.

We’ll provide your child with a uniform and direct them to our changing rooms to get ready for class.

Once they are in uniform, we will introduce your child to their instructor; this is the time to ask questions and get your child comfortable.

Can I stay while my child is in class?

Yes, we encourage all parents to stay for their child’s first class to help them feel comfortable and secure. We understand they are in a new environment with new people; your presence helps them adjust.

Staying also helps you understand our curriculum and what your child is learning. We have a seating area in our studio designated for parents. While it’s not required, many of our students who have been with us for years have parents who stay for every class.

What happens after the lesson?

We like to talk with you about our programs and membership options if you decide to continue training with us. There is no pricing commitment with the first class.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any other questions or concerns you may have through our website or by contacting the studio at  913.851.2400.
