Academy Director

Lead a Studio. Grow It. Make It Yours.

Ko Martial Arts is a premium martial arts and character development academy serving families across three locations in Johnson County. We began as a family school and have grown into an academy known for developing confident, respectful, disciplined students.

We are looking for an Academy Director to lead our South Overland Park studio. You will be the leader families see when they walk in, the person our team looks to, and the one who owns the growth of the studio. If you want real responsibility and want to see your work show up in real results, this role was built for you.

Our best candidates come from private schools, premium early education centers, and private clubs, where the standard of service is high and every family relationship matters.

What You Will Own
  • Studio growth: You are accountable for net student growth at South Overland Park, which means both new enrollments and retention.
  • Enrollment: Respond quickly to new inquiries, book and deliver introductory classes, lead enrollment conversations with parents, and follow up with families who have not yet decided.
  • Retention: Guide new families through their first 30 days, reach out when attendance drops, and turn concerns into loyalty.
  • Operations: Open and close the studio, keep the front desk running to our standard, handle billing questions, and keep the facility clean and ready.
  • Team leadership: Build the weekly staff schedule, run the daily game plan, and hold the team to our standards.
  • Weekly review: Meet with leadership each week to review the studio's numbers, and come with a plan to improve them.
Who You Are
  • A leader who wants to be accountable for results
  • Warm and confident with parents, able to guide a family toward a decision without pressure
  • Organized enough to keep a busy studio running smoothly while protecting time for growth
  • Someone who leads by example and sets the tone for the team
  • Comfortable learning software for scheduling, billing, and family communication
Experience Required
  • At least 2 years in a leadership role at a premium, family facing organization, such as a private school, a premium early education center like Primrose or Goddard, or a private golf or country club
  • A track record of delivering a high end experience to families or members who expect excellence
  • Experience growing enrollment, membership, or admissions with a goal you were responsible for hitting
  • Martial arts experience is welcome but not required
Schedule

The Academy Director leads from the floor and is on site during all studio hours:

  • Monday through Thursday: 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Friday: 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with occasional later event days
Compensation
  • Base salary of $50,000 to $58,000, depending on experience
  • Quarterly growth bonus based on net student growth at the studio
  • Directors who grow the studio can earn $62,000 to $75,000 or more in total pay
Benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Health insurance
  • Matching SIMPLE IRA
  • KOMA membership included for your own children
Why Ko Martial Arts
  • Real ownership of a studio and the authority to grow it
  • Decisions made quickly, with no corporate layers between you and leadership
  • Work that shapes the character of children and families in our community
  • Leadership development and room to take on more as Ko Martial Arts grows
