Message from our founder
We understand that there are important life lessons to learn in between kicking and punching. As a Kansas City born martial arts and self defense school, our most important role is to help each student find the best versions of themselves while learning skills to be successful in their future. This is the black belt way.
KOMA Taekwondo was founded in 2006 and we have spent more than a decade as a leading martial arts school that places our students' positive experiences and personal growth at the center of our teaching approach. We help our students set goals, overcome challenges, and develop positive relationships. We have become a thriving community that is more than just a martial arts school; we are a family.
We serve families in Johnson County at our South Overland Park, North Olathe & Prairie Village locations. At KOMA Taekwondo, it is important to give back to the community and ensure community service is a core part of our curriculum. We are proud that our students consistently use the skills they develop at KOMA Taekwondo to become leaders throughout their lives.
We invite you to join the KOMA Taekwondo tribe and learn how to lead life the black belt way.
Sincerely,
Master Bronson Ko and the KOMA Team

Why Choose Ko Martial Arts?
Character Focused
This is also why KOMA operates on a learn to earn philosophy.
Stripes are earned through attendance and showing up consistently, but belt promotion is not handed out for time served alone. Students must demonstrate the character behind the technique: effort, focus, respect, and follow through. A student does not earn a new belt because time has passed. They earn it because they have grown.
Individual Focused
We never compare a student to another student. This is not about the team, it is about individual improvement and growth. The only standard we ever measure a student against is their own potential.
Rich Legacy
By age 15, Bronson was teaching. By his senior year of high school, he was running his father's second location. That same drive shapes every class at KOMA today: more than 20 years of building leaders across Johnson County, with many of today's instructors and black belts having walked through our doors as students themselves.
We are not building a program. We are building a legacy. One student becomes a leader, a leader becomes a mentor, and the cycle continues for the next generation of families who walk through our doors.
KO Martial Arts: the path to success and self-improvement
Message from our founder
At Ko Martial Arts, the most important lessons are learned between the kicks and punches.
KOMA is built on the MENTOR Method—a teaching framework developed from 25+ years of working with children, teens, and adults. This method shapes how we coach, communicate, and guide students at every age. It focuses on helping people learn how to learn, grow through challenge, and develop lasting character through structure, clarity, and consistency.
Founded in 2006 in Kansas City, Ko Martial Arts exists to help students become the people they were created to be. While students learn strong martial arts technique, our deeper focus is on building discipline, confidence, focus, and resilience—skills that carry into school, work, relationships, and life.
Through the MENTOR Method, we teach students how to set goals, work through adversity, and take ownership of their growth. Families across Overland Park, Olathe, and Prairie Village choose KOMA because our approach develops both skill and character in a supportive, high-expectation environment.
This is what we call the KOMA Way—growth through consistency, character, and commitment.
